Custom picture framing in Auckland
Sgraffito has been helping New Zealanders with their framing needs for more than three decades. Our workshop is on Upland Road in Remuera, and we work with everyone from local families to galleries, photographers, interior designers and businesses across Auckland - Newmarket, Parnell, Ponsonby, Epsom, Mount Eden and the wider Eastern Suburbs.
We carry a large range of frame profiles and matboard finishes, and we will help you choose the right combination of frame, mount, glass and backing for your piece. One-offs, bulk runs, oversized canvases, awkward shapes, sentimental pieces - if it fits through the workshop door, we can frame it.
What we frame
Original paintings and limited-edition prints for Auckland artists and galleries. Children's art, family photos, wedding programmes and graduation certificates. Antique maps, old newspaper clippings, war medals, military service records. Concert posters, signed records, foreign currency and rare stamps. If you are not sure whether something can be framed, bring it in or send a photo.
Our process
1. Walk in or book a 30-minute consult. Bring the piece or send photos with rough dimensions. 2. We talk through frame profiles, matboard colours, glass options and the look you want. You take samples home if you need to. 3. We measure, cut, mount and assemble in the Remuera workshop - every piece passes through Stu's hands. 4. Most jobs are ready in 7 to 10 days. Larger or memorabilia work can take 2 to 3 weeks. You collect from the workshop or we can arrange delivery.
Materials and finishes
Hardwood, painted, leaf-finish and contemporary aluminium frame profiles. Acid-free matboards in over 100 colours. Standard glass for everyday pieces; conservation glass for anything you want to protect from UV fade; museum-quality non-reflective glass for valuable art under gallery lighting. Turnaround and pricing
